I'm taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon 2027 with #TeamStroke

I have decided to join TeamStroke for the Cardiff Half Marathon 2027.

As many of you may know my dad suffered a major stroke last year which has changed his life completely! 

From an independent 90 year old active and intelligent man who was able to converse on any subject with great knowledge and insight. 

His stroke has left him able to understand what is being said and still have his intelligent thoughts. But now unable to speak or write to converse with the out side world and the people that love him. The term for this is aphasia. Not something the family where aware off until dad had is stroke. 

His stroke has also left him unable to stand and walk which has reduced his world to living in two rooms and requiring assistance for every thing he does. 

So to say his and our world has been turned upside down by his stroke would be an understatement!

But dad never  lets things get him down or stop him enjoying life as much as he can. 

So following in my dad’s steps of embracing and making the most of what life presents us. I have decided to join the stroke association for the Cardiff half marathon to raise virtual funds for this great charity. 

So please join me and pledge what you can to help us make a difference to prevent people having a stroke and support people living with the affects of a stroke. 

Because when we come together we can achieve great things.
