I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2025.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Why i'm running the Great North Run

Tuesday 13th May
The Great North Run will be my first Half Marathon, and I'm so excited to run it. Ever since I started running regularly last September, I have wanted to run a big race. When I saw the opportunity to run in the Great North Run, I knew I couldn't resist. As someone who survived a stroke at a very young age, I feel it's important to show everyone that although my stroke does affect me in ways, it has never been able to stop me from achieving my goals and ambitions for what I want to do. The image i have included is from my 10km run a few months ago from Carlisle Run.

My story as a stroke survivor

Thursday 9th Jan
I had a stroke when I was 2 years old, when I was a child it effected me a lot, I was behind in a lot of my studies such as English and maths for many years and socially I found it difficult to make friends and socialise with children my own age.  Now I have my best friend and I’m working towards applying to uni next year but I had to work very hard to be able to do this.
