I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, this is expected to rise to 2.1 million by 2035, the same as the population of Slovenia! With 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year, that's one stroke every five minutes.
Since joining the Stroke Association 18+ months ago I've found it astonishing that 9 out of 10 strokes are preventable, and that stroke is the leading cause of adult disability.
The Stroke Association supports people to rebuild their lives and thrive after stroke, for as long as they need help. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
This is my first time running the GNR since 2017, and as a northerner and the race that introduced me to running I'm really excited to be taking part again. All donations are appreciated, thank you!
