I joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2026.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

London Marathon 2026 here we come
Monday 2nd MarIn October 2024 my Auntie Kath suffered a stroke as a consequence of infective endocarditis. She spent months in hospital, suffered several further strokes during that time and underwent major heart surgery to tackle the root cause of the initial stroke. Since then, she has worked tirelessly on her rehabilitation and despite several further medical complications, she is still taking steps everyday to rebuild her life.
In May 2025 I applied to run London Marathon for the Stroke Association, following the support they provided to Kath after such a life changing event. This week I received an unexpected call to say that a last minute space had become available if I was interested in taking on the challenge! It didn’t take long for me to realise that if my inspirational Auntie can literally learn to walk and talk again, the least I can do is drag myself around a marathon and hopefully raise some much needed money along the way!
