I'm taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2026 as part of #TeamStroke! I’m running in memory of my aunt, who I was incredibly close to and who we sadly lost very suddenly after a catastrophic stroke in November 2025. Losing her so unexpectedly has been one of the hardest things our family have had to face, and I wanted to do something meaningful in her memory and in honour of the amazing person she was.
Over the last year, I’ve also seen firsthand how deeply strokes can affect someone’s life and just how much strength, time and support it takes to rebuild and adjust afterwards. It has really opened my eyes to the impact it has, not only on the person but on everyone around them. Although my aunt never got the chance to receive that support and begin that journey, I have seen how much it can mean to someone who does and the difference it makes in helping them build their life back.
By taking part in this 10K, I hope to raise money to support others affected by stroke and help give people the care and support they need to rebuild their lives. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean so much to me and my family. Thank you so much for your support.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
