I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.
I’m taking part in the GNR this year in memory of my Granda who sadly passed away from a stroke in 2024. My Granda was such a determined gentleman. After having his first stroke in 2015 I spent every day helping him to read, write and speak again. Alongside the help of Stroke Association he continued to have a very fulfilling and independent life after this, for another 9 years. I was fortunate to run the GNR for Stroke Association back in 2021 with my Granda watching me on TV. Now he watches me complete this from heaven. It’s a privilege to give something back and help others going through something similar.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
