TCS London Marathon 2027

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2027 with #TeamStroke

My Grandad Peter Leslie Parker sadly passed away Friday 17th April 2026 after a long fight with Parkinsons.

Before this in January 1987 at the age of 44 he suffered a Stroke, with the strong mind and will power his recovery went very well, very determined to get out of his wheelchair and continue his fundraising.

His first charity venture was a triathlon, this being a 1 mile swim, 24 mile bike ride and then an 8 mile windsurf! This raised more than £3000 for Chelmsford Stroke Club.
Next would be even more of a challenge as two and half years after his Stroke he windsurfed the English Channel raising £8700 for Stroke Association & Local Stroke Club, who helped him along after his stoke.

He played his part in many other fundraisers for Stroke Association. One of which myself and my Dad took part in, 3 generations completed the Thames Bridges Bike Ride in 2008, 33 mile bike ride over 14 of London’s famous bridges. We raised roughly £1500 again for Stroke Association.

All the charity work he was doing wouldn’t go unnoticed, In 1990 he was awarded the Chelmsford Borough Council’s Service in the Community Individual Award something he was very proud of.

Not only was he getting the recognition in his hometown of Chelmsford. In July 1999, he then got a shock when he and my Nan had the privilege to be invited to attend the Queen’s Garden Party! Again something he was very proud to be a part of and well deserved after all his hard work!

I feel it’s only right to step up and continue his Legacy and raise money for such a great charity ‘Stroke Association’

So I will be running the London Marathon 2027 in memory of my super hero Grandad Peter Leslie Parker 🕷️💙

‘KEEP TO THE AGENDA, NO SURRENDER’

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. With strength, determination and the right support, recovery is possible.

By taking on this challenge with Team Stroke, I'll be fundraising to provide tailored support to tens of thousands of stroke survivors each year, fund vital scientific research, and campaign to secure the best care and support for everyone affected by stroke.

Every donation helps someone find strength through support at a time they need it most. Thank you so much for being part of this journey with me.
