I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My updates

A second time.

Sunday 25th Jan
Running the Great North Run isn’t just about the miles. It’s about the months of training when motivation dips, the early mornings when it would be easier to stay in bed, and the mental battles that happen long before race day. The first time taught me that I’m capable of more than I think—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
This year, I’m not running to prove anything. I’m running because I want to. I want to see how far I’ve come, not just as a runner, but as a person. Life gets busy, overwhelming, and noisy, and running has become my way of creating space—space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with myself.
There’s also something incredibly special about the atmosphere. The crowds, the strangers cheering you on like they’ve known you forever, the shared determination of thousands of people moving forward together. It reminds me that even when things feel hard, you’re never really doing it alone.
Running it a second time feels different. There’s less fear and more gratitude. Gratitude for a body that keeps showing up for me, for the support around me, and for the reminder that growth doesn’t stop after the first finish line.
So here I go again. Same route, new mindset, stronger heart.
This time, I’m running for the journey—not just the medal at the end
