TCS London Marathon 2026

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke

I am very proud to say I've joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2026.  As Chairman of Malvern Hills District Council my chosen charity for the year is the Stroke Association and this is my big fund raiser of the year - and it's a big one.  For someone who never thought they'd run a Marathon this is going to be a test.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

My dad has suffered with Strokes over the years and I know how it severely impacts peoples lives so this is a very personal appeal.

The Stroke Association are here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. They believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. The Stroke Association rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

So, please give what you can - not only will it spur me on as I train leading up to April next year but it's also vital funds for an amazing charity that affects so many people.

I will continue to update below through the blog you'll find on this page and you'll also be able to see some of my training here.  I'll also share updated on my Facebook page - (1) Facebook

My updates

Training has begun.

Wednesday 23rd Jul
I've always run but the thought of running 42km is something else.  I've got 3 x 10k runs coming up soon starting with the very local Elgar run across the very fields I tend to train in and then Worcester 10k and Alcester 10k.  All of them combined won't be the same distance as the London Marathon! but I have a long time to train.

Through these hot evenings and mornings -  to the wind, rain and frost of winter to come.  I'm training to improve my 20k speed and running so that I can hopefully get through the first half of the London Marathon okay and then worry about doing it again!

Thank you to my sponsors
