I’ve joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2025.
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
The Stroke Association is an amazing charity supporting stroke survivors and their families. The charity is special to me because of the support it gave to our family when my Nan Ellen suffered a life changing stroke. Suddenly our world was turned upside down and the Stroke Association was there for us every step of the way - from those nightmare first days at hospital when we didn’t know if she’d pull through, to understanding the debilitating effects of her stroke to caring for her at home until she passed away.
We will always be grateful to the Stroke Association and have fundraised in different ways over the years. This is my biggest challenge yet and I’m not underestimating how difficult will be, but Ellen’s strength and determination after her stroke will be my inspiration. I know she will be with me for every step of training to the big 26.2!
