TCS London Marathon 2026

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2026.

On Thursday 23th September 2024 I had a stroke.

I went to work like any other day. As I was teaching my class, I became very faint and dizzy but just thought I was dehydrated so sat down. As I started to get pins and needles in my left arm and struggles to remember the children’s names in my class, I knew I needed to get out of the room.

After my work colleagues convinced me to go to hospital, within 2 hours of being there, Colchester general had identified I’d had a TIA and needed to stay in. The care and support I was I was given was amazing until the day I was discharged.

After many more tests and scans, I found out I have a (PFO) hole in my heart. After being referred to Bart’s hospital and having the hole closed less than a year ago, here I am now raising money for an amazing corse while getting back to doing something I enjoy.

I feel I came out of this one of the lucky ones with only a few long term effects but not everyone is be as lucky as me.
