I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My gran Linda
Friday 27th FebMy gran was the heart of our family kind, caring, and always there for everyone. Losing her to a stroke was devastating, and something none of us were prepared for.
Watching someone you love become vulnerable overnight is incredibly painful, and the impact reaches far beyond the person affected — it changes an entire family.
Since losing my gran, I’ve realised how important stroke awareness is. Knowing the signs and acting fast can save lives. I share her story in the hope that more people learn to recognise a stroke and seek help immediately.
If raising awareness helps even one family avoid this loss, then her memory continues to make a difference.
