I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2027 with #TeamStroke #ForGrandad

I've joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2027.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery. 

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My Reason: 

My Grandad (Clayton Sloan) was affected by a heavy stroke that changed his life. Even though he lost the ability to form conversations and the ability to use the right side of his body, it didn't stop grandad being the kind loving glue of the family. 

Grandad still lived life to the fullest and was able to spend a good many years after his stroke before passing in 2025. He still gave many years of memories that non of us will ever forget.  This is why I am running in memory of grandad and to raise money for the charity that leads research, treatment and support for stroke victims.
