I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

I am gratefully running for #TeamStroke at the Great North Run 2026.

I take great pride in this opportunity, as one of my family survived a stroke in 2010 at the age of 68, and still lives a great life today. Their story shows the importance of rehabilitative services for Stroke survivors: they spent their rehab becoming stronger at walking, learning to write (and paint) with their non-dominant hand and learning to drive again.

This same family member helped set up the first Great North Run with his Round Table Group back in 1981, so this also an event that is often mentioned at the dinner table when I visit.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
