TCS London Marathon 2027

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2027 with #TeamStroke

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. With strength, determination and the right support, recovery is possible.

By taking on this challenge with Team Stroke, I'll be fundraising to provide tailored support to tens of thousands of stroke survivors each year, fund vital scientific research, and campaign to secure the best care and support for everyone affected by stroke.

Every donation helps someone find strength through support at a time they need it most. Thank you so much for being part of this journey with me.

Reasons for running

Tuesday 23rd Jun
In 2023, my dad, Michael, aged 67, fell over at home breaking his femur. This led to a number of health issues, including of which was a stroke.
This stroke caused a number of problems, including issues with speech and language, being in a wheelchair and requiring live at home carers. Over the next few years, despite unwaivering support from my mum and the rest of the family, he struggled to come to terms with how his new condition effected him. He retreated into himself at times and was a shadow of the kind, funny and generous person we all new before the accident.
There were however moments of the old self at times: meeting his 2 new granddaughters for the first time, laughing at old episodes of Dad's Army. One of those glints into the old self was his weekly zoom call with the stroke association. As a former lawyer, dad was a people person, and I know that regular contact, despite often not having much to say, really helped him.
For that reason, I would like to give something back to a charity that gives so much to people at their toughest time.
Given my dad's life long love affair with cricket I intend to run it dressed in full cricket gear (gloves, pads, helmet and bat).
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
