Running the Great North Run for Granda Ron
Wednesday 5th AugThis year I’ll be running the Great North Run for the Stroke Association.
In 2025 my Granda Ron suffered a stroke. It has left him bed bound and unable to communicate fully with us. As such a close knit family it has had such a sudden and devastating blow on us.
The journey since has been very emotionally difficult for us all. He now relies on 24/7 care from my Grandma Jessie, as well as the rest of our family.
My Granda has always been a doer, someone constantly on the move, helping others, and moaning about doing so! So seeing him being unable to walk and communicate has been really hard for us.
Every year, strokes affect thousands of families. The primary aim of the Stroke Association is to rebuild lives after stroke, working tirelessly to support survivors, fund vital research, and ensure everyone affected can live their best possible life.
I’m running my third Great North Run, to give back to a charity that offers hope and support when families need it most.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small the amount, it would mean the world to me. Every contribution goes directly toward helping stroke survivors regain their independence and supporting families through their hardest days.
