I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2025.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Just wanted to thank everyone again who has already donated it’s so kind of you all!! I’d like to add another update to let you know Im now doing London 10k in August which will help me with my training.

My story

Monday 6th Jan
In September 2025 I am running the Great North Run, the worlds biggest Half Marathon. July 2023 my Dad, who was 55 at the time unfortunately suffered a stroke completely out of the blue following a clot on the brain.  Thankfully he has started to recover from this but we have been told he will never make a full recovery.

Strokes can have a devastating impact on the person but also their family.  It can destroy the very essence of a person who you love  and can change them forever.   

The Stroke association is there for both the patient and their family in offering support and guidance following a stroke.
