I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

In September 2026 I am running the Great North Run, for the second time!

July 2023 my Dad, who was 55 at the time unfortunately suffered a stroke completely out of the blue following a clot on the brain. Thankfully he has started to recover from this but we have been told he will never make a full recovery.

Strokes can have a devastating impact on the person but also their family. It can destroy the very essence of a person who you love and can change them forever.

The Stroke association is there for both the patient and their family in offering support and guidance following a stroke.
