I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2027 with #TeamStroke
It's obviously not me in the photo silly - it's our mum Gill, who passed away in August 2023 after a sudden and catastrophic stroke.Since then I've entered the 2025 and 2026 London Marathon ballots and applied for charity places without success. And now I've got a spot for 2027, it's time to see if these old legs have one more marathon in them to help raise money for this important cause.
My first marathon in Milan was in 2010 at 30 where I ran for Alzheimer's Society, and I last ran London in 2013 at age 33 for Guide Dogs. So 17 years since I proved I could do it, and 14 years since I last had a go and it was HARD! It's not going to be any fun at all and I will be just happy to complete it at this point!
About my chosen charity:
Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke.
By taking on this challenge with Team Stroke, I'll be fundraising to provide tailored support to tens of thousands of stroke survivors each year, fund vital scientific research, and campaign to secure the best care and support for everyone affected by stroke.
Every donation helps someone find strength through support at a time they need it most. Thank you so much for being part of this journey with me.
