I joined #TeamStroke for the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

2025 was the year that altered us just a little bit. Out of no where my mum aged just 60 suffered a TIA and spent 5 days in hospital. It took us a good few days till we decided to get checked over and only then did we think ok maybe this is a stroke! Mum showed none of the tell tale signs only affected speech and slight motor skills lose. We didn’t see the change with our own eyes, she just woke up and was “different”. Unfortunately mums after care almost a year on is non existent distant. The hospitals have not helped and neither has the GP. Thankfully with medication mum has basically made a full recovery with only some minor long last effects but it could have been much much worse. I’m raising money for this charity I hope that it can improve future support to those who have / are suffering from strokes and the life changing effects it can leave.
