I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2025.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Our Story

Wednesday 7th May

Hi everyone

Back in 2019 my Grandad, Ian Thew, suffered a massive stroke. This stroke was sudden and totally unexpected as he was such a fit and healthy man.

The stroke was so serious it left him with life changing disabilities which totally changed him and had a huge impact on his family and friends.

He bravely fought against all of his physical impairments however passed away 1 year later.

In his memory, myself and my Dad Stu, will be running the Great North Run to raise money for the Stroke Association.

I have never ran the 13 mile race and my Dad did once.....in 1992! So it'll be a massive challenge for the pair of us!

We would be very grateful if you could sponsor our challenge and help in the fight against this insidious condition.

thanks
