I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
This year I have decided to take part in the Great North Run for stroke association. Anyone who knows me knows running is my worst nightmare, however this has been something I have wanted to do for years. In March 2018 my amazing auntie suddenly had a stroke, since then life has changed quite a lot due to the effects of the stroke and multiple mini strokes since. Unlike the typical great auntie or uncle who you see every few months she has always looked after all of us like her own and I can’t remember a milestone or event in my life which she wasn’t present for and I thought it was about time I challenged myself for such an important cause in light of the bravery and strength she’s always shown over the years. There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes. The Stroke Association works to prevent stroke, to support people affected by stroke, fund research and campaign for the rights of all stroke survivors. The Stroke Association works to provide extensive post- stroke support to survivors including emotional support, support to caregivers, local support groups and services to aid rehabilitation, independence and mental health of stroke survivors. I would be very grateful for any donations however if not possible please give this a share. My Achievements
