31 Too Young: Running for Stroke Awareness

I’m taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026 as part of #TeamStroke, running to raise money for the Stroke Association.

This run is deeply personal to me. My dad, Jorge Alejandro Velasquéz, died from a stroke when he was just 31 years old. This year marks 20 years since he passed away, and I’m running in his memory, to honour him, and to help other families avoid the heartbreak that stroke can bring.

In the UK there are over 1.4 million stroke survivors, and around 100,000 strokes happen every year, that’s one every five minutes. The Stroke Association supports people to rebuild their lives after stroke, and they rely on donations to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care, and fund research into prevention and recovery.

If you can donate anything at all, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every contribution helps, and it would mean a lot to me to do this in my dad’s name.

Thank you so much for your support.
