My story 🩷
The Great North Run is more than just a challenge for me—it’s a way to honour my incredible gran and the bond we’ve always shared. Before her strokes, some of my happiest memories were with my gran who was a big part in raising me, laughing, baking and making moments I’ll treasure forever. Those simple traditions built a closeness that shaped my childhood and still means everything to me today.
Since suffering two strokes, life has changed so much for her. She is now housebound, struggles with communication and sometimes can’t recall the memories that mean so much to both of us. Watching her face these challenges has been heartbreaking, but it has also inspired me to act. By running the Great North Run, I want to raise awareness for the Stroke Association, honour my gran’s strength and resilience, and help support other families who are living with the impact of stroke every day.
