We are taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
Lynn’s story:
Lynn’s life changed dramatically 17 years ago when she suffered a stroke. After spending two weeks in hospital, doctors then discovered she had also suffered a brain aneurysm which required immediate surgery. Although she showed incredible strength throughout her recovery, Lynn sadly never fully regained the health and independence she once had. Following another mini stroke last year which resulted in another hospital admission, alongside several other ongoing medical challenges, her mobility and independence have been significantly reduced. Tasks that were once simple now require far more strength, patience and support.
During one of her recent hospital stays, Ashley, her Grandson-in-law was telling Lynn about the half marathons he had completed that year. Without hesitation, Lynn smiled and said that when she got out, she was determined to complete one with him. It was a moment full of hope, determination, and the kind of spirit that refuses to give up.
Sadly, due to her ongoing health conditions, completing a half marathon on her own has proven impossible. But Lynn’s determination and positive outlook have not faded.
So to make her wish come true, Ashley will be taking on the London Royal Parks Half Marathon alongside his Dad, Danny, in a very special way — by pushing Lynn all the way to the finish line. Together, they will prove that with courage, family, and determination, even the toughest challenges can be faced side by side.
