Charity place
To apply for one of our charity places in the TCS London Marathon, you will be required to pay a £75 registration fee and commit to raising a minimum sponsorship target of £3,000 (excluding gift aid).
Please note that submitting your application does not secure you a place with Team Stroke. We will review applications and offer places based on the information you provide, so please provide as much detail as possible.
Our application form will close when we start reviewing applications, so we encourage you to apply early.
Own place
If you have secured your own place through the TCS London Marathon directly, we would love for you to join #TeamStroke. Those who secure their own place will have no minimum sponsorship target.

I would like to apply for a Team Stroke charity place
I have secured my own place via the ballot and would like to use it to join Team Stroke
Frequently asked questions
No, completing our charity place application does not guarantee you a place. We will review applications and communicate the outcome by July.
How can I improve my chances of securing a charity place?
Please include as much detail as possible in your application about why you wish to fundraise for the Stroke Association and how you will do this. We are looking for a breakdown of how you will reach the minimum fundraising target of £3,000. For example, this could include bullet points listing each fundraising activity and the amount you think each will raise.
Is there any flexibility with the minimum fundraising target? Do I have to raise a minimum of £3,000? e.g. can I raise £1,500?
We need every charity place participant to raise at least £3,000. As a charity we have to pay a significant amount of money to secure places in this event, along with incurring other costs such as staff time, cost of materials, running tops, etc. Without this minimum sponsorship we would be at a financial loss. We need to ensure all participants raise at least £3,000 to cover our costs and allow us to support more stroke survivors and their loved ones.
What should I do if I have been offered a charity place but then secure a place in the ballot?
Congratulations! Please let us know if you are lucky enough to secure a place via the ballot. We recommend that you use the ballot place so that we can allocate your charity place to someone else. You can still join #TeamStroke with a ballot place as an own place participant, and by offering the charity place to another person, this means that we can make #TeamStroke even bigger.
Will I receive a running vest to wear at the TCS London Marathon 2027?
Yes, you will be sent a Stroke Association running vest. This will arrive with you approximately two months before the event.
Will you have a cheer point on the day?
Yes, we will have a minimum of two cheer points on the day and will be in touch with further information in the lead up to the event. Be warned, we LOVE cheering Team Stroke as they pass us, however we take pride in being very loud!
